ABOUT ORIENTA

Experience changes how you see the problem.

Orienta brings senior practitioner judgement to difficult regulatory and compliance questions - combining deep market experience, commercial understanding and a practical approach to getting things done.

Regulation rarely comes with a simple answer.

The difficult questions involve judgement: understanding what the rules require, how they apply to the business and what a workable response looks like in practice.

That is where Orienta comes in.

OUR STORY

Built around the work we believe matters.

Orienta was founded to provide a different kind of regulatory and compliance support: senior, practitioner-led and focused on solving real problems rather than selling consulting process.

Our experience comes from working inside complex organisations and global markets - dealing with regulatory change, building compliance frameworks, advising senior leaders and working through difficult issues where there was rarely a textbook answer.

That experience shapes how we work today. We bring regulatory knowledge, but also an understanding of commercial reality, organisational dynamics and what it takes to make compliance work in practice.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Good compliance enables better business.

Regulation and compliance are often treated primarily as constraints. Done well, they can also create confidence, enable opportunity and help organisations make better decisions.

For us, good compliance is not about eliminating every risk or producing ever more process. It is about understanding the risks that matter, exercising sound judgement and putting in place arrangements that are proportionate to the business and robust enough to stand up to scrutiny.

And sometimes it means saying something that is difficult to hear. Independence matters. Our job is to give clients our best judgement - not simply the answer they were hoping for.

HOW WE’RE DIFFERENT

Senior practitioners do the work.

The people advising you should understand the problem because they have dealt with similar problems themselves.

Orienta is built around experienced practitioners rather than a traditional consulting pyramid. Senior people remain close to the work - from understanding the question and reaching the judgement through to implementation.

Where a mandate requires additional expertise or capacity, we work with trusted specialists from our professional network. That allows us to bring together the right experience for the problem without building unnecessary layers around it.

TECHNOLOGY

Better tools. More time for judgment.

Technology is changing what a compliance function can do.

Used well, automation and AI can make everyday regulatory and compliance work faster, more consistent and more efficient - from organising information and monitoring change to supporting analysis and routine workflows.

We embrace that opportunity. But technology does not remove the need for experience and judgement. Regulation involves context, ambiguity and choices that cannot always be reduced to a workflow or generated answer.

We use technology to amplify practitioner expertise, not replace it.

COLLABORATION

Independent doesn’t mean having to work alone.

Some of the best expertise in the market sits outside traditional firms.

We believe in working collaboratively - with other independent practitioners, specialist consultancies, law firms and client teams - where doing so brings better expertise or a better outcome.

We are comfortable leading an assignment, contributing specialist expertise to somebody else's team or bringing together the right practitioners around a particular problem.

The objective is the right answer for the client, not owning every part of the work.

EXPERIENCE

Experience earned on the inside.

Orienta is built on senior practitioner experience gained inside complex businesses and markets - advising boards and senior leaders, leading compliance functions, engaging with regulators and helping shape and implement major regulatory change.

We have seen regulation from different perspectives: contributing to its development, interpreting what it means for a business, building the arrangements needed to comply and dealing with the consequences when things don't work as intended.

Marc brings an unusual perspective to regulatory and compliance problems, having spent his career both helping to make regulation and making it work in practice.

He was the UK's lead technical expert in the EU negotiations that created MiFID I and CRD before moving into senior regulatory and compliance roles across energy, commodities, wholesale markets and digital assets.

Marc combines regulatory understanding, market experience and commercial judgement to help clients reach a clear view where the answer isn't obvious.
